Game Concept Overview
„League of Terror“ is a first person shooter / real time strategy multiplayer game with RPG-like character advancement. It can be compared to Tremulous and also uses the Quake 3 Arena engine. A big difference is character development, as well as the old-school horror theme.
There are two fractions that compete with each other: The Inquisition (mundanes) and The League of Terror (monsters). Each fraction starts with a small base camp, which is expanded throughout the game. Structures are necessary to be able to spawn, buy weapons, get access to special abilities (such as radar) or can be turrets to defend the base. The game ends when the entire base of one team is destroyed.
Joining a server the player has to pick one of the two fractions. Before spawning he/she furthermore has to choose a character, whereas every character has its own duties, strengths, weaknesses and equipment. For killing members of the opposite team the character gains experience as well as money. After a certain number of kills the character advances his level. Advancing in level involves better stats of the character and access to new talents and better weapons. Weapons are bought with money, which the character also gains by killing others, the amount depends on the level of the killed opponent.
If a character is killed he loses his equipment, but not his level or talents. To choose a different character means to start without money and level 1, while switching back to an already advanced character means one can go on where the character was before the switch.
When the game ends and the map changes everybody starts at level 1 and with 0$ all over again.
